2007 Goals

Now that January is half over, I am taking a few moments to write about our family goals for 2007. Hopefully I will get a chance in December or early next year to asses the results of these goals. Note, this is from Bryan's perspective, Melissa and the kids may see things a bit differently.

Family goals:
  • Keep the the house less cluttered. We started this by having the carpet cleaned and putting away or tiding the whole upstairs. The basement is still a disaster, but hey, baby steps are still steps. Since then we have done a fairly good job of keeping clutter under control, but stuff is powerful and sneaky, so we must stay alert!
  • Continue to work healthy eating and activities into our daily routine. Melissa purchased a gym membership, I do a very basic workout most mornings. I will ride my bike to work at least twice a week during warm weather.
  • Work to incorporate prayer and bible teaching into our routines. Melissa continues to lead a bible study and be involved in church and MOPS leadership. I have a lot more changes to make in this area!
Individual Goals:
  • Isaiah
    • Master the alphabet and improve counting.
    • Learn to write his name and other important words.
    • Prepare for and begin preschool.
    • Begin to learn an organized athletic activity, probably soccer.
  • JoyAnne
    • Speak in sentences and expand her vocabulary.
    • Begin to play more socially.
  • Bryan
    • Learn guitar basics. I want to be comfortable playing enough cords to read lead sheets and feel comfortable providing simple accompaniment.
    • Get admitted to graduate school and begin coursework.
    • Improve web 2.0 development skills and incorporate that into products at work.
    • Continue to develop a leadership style that encourages others to make decisions, take risks, and enjoy their work.
  • Melissa
    • I can't really speak for her. Unless she wants to fill this in, it will have to remain a mystery to everyone but her.
These are practical goals that will hopefully provide a framework for our activities throughout the year. It will be interesting to see what else we come up with as the months go by!
