This pelican was enjoying the shade of the prairie Dog exhibit. It made Melissa just a wee bit paranoid, especially when she learned that it was only a few minutes until feeding time.

Hutchison Zoo
For our first mini-vacation of the summer we took a two day trip to Hutchison, Kansas. First we went to the Kansas Cosmosphere. Bryan really enjoyed it, but there was much reading and not that much that interested two little kids and Melissa, (and not much to take photos of). Next we drove south to the big city park where they have Salt City Water Park and the free Hutchison Zoo. It is a small, but nice zoo where you can get close to the animals. Here are a few of my favorite photos from the zoo.
