Independence Day / Fiscal New Year's Eve Party

The Boutz's and Johnsons gathered today to eat, swim, burn Chinese fireworks, and reflect on the United State of America's independence. As you can see, Annie was particularly fond of the chocolate drenched brownie soup MeMe made. I do believe that is about the best tasting mistake I have eaten in a while.

Isaiah got his first ride on a real bicycle. Of course it still has training wheels, but he knew just what to do. The only problem he had was that on his trike he peddles backwards to go backwards, but on the bike, that just made him stop! However, he wasn't quite sure what to do when he actually wanted to stop.

Melissa and I are most excited about going on a "date" tomorrow since we have babysitting available to us. I hear the new Superman movie is mediocre, but its probably better than watching the Dora the Explorer DVD for the 5th day in a row. We are also looking forward to leaving Isaiah with his grandparents for a few days. We will see him again on Tuesday evening at the Wamego parade.

My dad and I had a nice chat about a little of everything (as usual). Tomorrow morning I am supposed to help him do some work on the room he is building onto their kitchen. Last time I helped him work on it he gave up in frustration. Hopefully he has a better idea of what he wants to do now.

All in all, it should be an interesting weekend.
