Family and friends

Today we had two family events rolled into one. A birthday party for Melissa, and a going away party for Adam. It is always fun just to hang out with family, an environment where I don't have to worry about how I look or what I do.

Melissa's 27th birthday is in two days (Tuesday the 15th) and she is more excited about getting to go to MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) with only one child than anything else. She has started her maternity leave, and won't have Jimmy until April, so she is looking forward to the next few days without a second child to chase after. Of course, all this birthday stuff has special meaning this year because within the next week or two we will be celebrating another birthday. The newest member of our family will be joining us soon. Margret J at church thinks it will be Friday, and I am inclined to agree with her. We will see. I bought a stop watch with which to monitor contractions, so I guess that means I am ready :). Melissa's big gift this year from her parents was a new Brother Sewing machine. It has all the bells and whistles including an embroidery function and many Disney graphics built in. It will get used eventually, but I imagine she will be too busy/tired to use it for a while!

Adam's going away party was fun because the family finally got a better understanding of where he is going and what he is doing. It was amazing how few people didn't even know what city and country he will be in. I am very excited for him and will be following his blog as it grows. I wish I could have had a chance to do something like this, but alas, I chose other options. Good luck Adam, I hope you learn a lot about the world and yourself.
